Volunteer

Become a volunteer tutor

Volunteering as a tutor is a great and rewarding opportunity for anyone who likes to do a bit extra for the community or fill some spare time while helping others.

Our volunteer tutors can work one-to-one with adults 1-3 hours a week to help them improve their literacy skills and reach their learning goals. Majority of our learners seek to improve their ESL skills.

All tutors can complete a free 12 hour training seminar with certification and have ongoing individualized support once they are matched. The training is not mandatory, however.

We have a continual intake of volunteer tutors and training sessions are offered every spring and fall.

To become a volunteer tutor you can fill in the Application Form:

Email your application form back to tmills@fsjliteracy.ca or bring it directly to FSJ Literacy Society, located on #201 10136 100 Avenue (between the Lido and Salvation Army). Please note that a Criminal Record Check will be required.
